Stylish blogger award via oral history
think-make-think by Clifton Burt (haiku by John Maeda)
I was awarded a Stylish Blogger award by Bad Hausfrau back in- oh January. It is actually a great pleasure to return from my most recent neglect of ceramics and the blog to actually meet the requirements of this award. Here it goes.
1. Thank and link back to the person who gave you the award.
Thanks again Kelley! (original thank you here)
Check out Bad Hausfrau. The pictures are just lovely and the writing is interesting and, well, well-written, which is kind of rare these days.
2. Share seven things about yourself.
I did not realize my desire to be a real part time ceramic artist until creating pieces for my own wedding.
I love New York City and will most likely never leave it.
My shoes size is 6 1/2.
I have to force myself to go on any vacation that does not involve the beach.
I have thin arms and refer to them as my "kermit-the-frogs".
AC and I will sometimes read the same book together. I love this.
I am a sucker for rose gold.
3. Award inspirational newly discovered bloggers.
I am using "newly discovered" very loosely. I have been reading Thoughtful Day since the A Farm Fresh Wedding days.
For inspiration, please click below:
Thoughtful Day - great discoveries posted by a creative designer
Brooklyn Rehab - a refreshingly personal blog created by a savvy fashionable lady
City Lady Country Girl- the life and times of a city lady getting married and building (yes building!) a home with her husband in upstate NY
Mint Peach- my last studio mate and an amazing ceramic artist

Lucky Girl

I have another blog that I rarely post on anymore, but it was what started my new found life in ceramics and plants to some extent. A Farm Fresh Wedding was where I put all of bridal planning inspiration; it helped me stay focused.
AC and I were married at Blue Hill at Stone Barns. I am so envious of all of the planning brides- to-be out there, I absolutely loved planning our wedding. Blue Hill is now using the dinnerware of ceramic artist Dana Oates- the woman behind dbO Home. Please take a look at her beautiful aesthetic. I think she and I share many of the same inspirations. How lucky to be featured at such a magical place full of beautiful views and amazing sustainable food. I am sure that this thoughtful addition to the table can only make the food even better (is that possible?).
I have the day off to catch up on my other creative life. Don't get me wrong medicine is an art too, you just do not get as dirty.
My second part of my Stylish Blogger award is in its final stages too. So much to do!!

wedding dress

This winter weather has me wedding dreaming. Hmmm... I know, it is odd.
We had yummy chili at AC's friends' house while watching the football game. E (great cook and chili maker) told us about her recent trip to the J Crew wedding salon with her soon-to-be married sister. I went online to see what J Crew weddings is up to these days. It is hard for me to see a wedding dress without just wanting to get married all over again. I loved the planning and the celebrating so much!
I love thier dreamy new Augusta dress above... which sold out since I saw it yesterday!!

It was a dark & stormy... 2nd Anniversary!
True to form, our anniversary was a day of misty rain and ominous clouds. This year I was a little under the weather, and loaded up a kiln at the studio anyway (I've been busy!).
AC and I are celebrating a little late this year...

Wedding Inspiration
Just when I needed a pick me up... one showed up!
Remember the AFFW reader who asked to borrow our wedding invitation design?
Style Me Pretty covered her wedding last week. If you look closely- you will see the design in the mix of the photos. I am so glad K and J had such a beautiful day!

I Love You AC
AC and I were in Hawaii for the holidays- we were rushing around getting life in order and gathering Xmas presents for our nieces before we left. So, we decided to have our own Christmas gift exchange when we returned to NYC. Well, I am a lucky girl. AC always buys me the best jewelry. I'm serious- he just knows me, and he did it again. He bought a ring made by Bittersweets NY. Above are a few of their other delightful pieces!

Our Wedding Invitations Live On!
I received an email about our wedding invitations (seen on AFFW) a few months ago. A bride-to-be getting married at Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Pocantico Hills, NY wanted to use the invitations AC and I made for our wedding. The kicker... their wedding date is also ours, September 12th. Katherine made a few changes and sent me her finished package- they look great. Her calligraphy turned out beautifully using the hand of Pretty Pen Jen. The invitations were letterpressed at Coeur Noir. I highly recommend this printer, they are so amazing and easy to work with. I am so touched that Katherine wanted to use our design. Congrats Katherine and John!

What is in a name?
After my extended relaxing "honeymoon" from A Farm Fresh Wedding (affw), I am settling into my new adventure... Craven Home. A play on my new last name (the casual pronounciation of craving) that will hopefully satisfy a yearning for things to make a cozy and personal place.
So many things are happening, and many are projects created by readers and inspiration from that old blog. The last 2 posts are here.
And here it goes.
Above is a silhouette of my husband, AC (broken and repaired- we actually like it this way). Custom (not broken) ceramic silhouettes will soon be available on my Etsy store.
